Jadon Sancho is set to be at the centre of a Premier League tug-of-war between Manchester United and Chelsea this summer, with Liverpool reportedly ‘not involved’ in the race to sign the Borussia Dortmund star.
The England international is expected to be amongst the most in-demand players of the summer window after another stand-out season for the Bundesliga side, as Dortmund prepare for a bidding war amongst Europe’s leading clubs for their prized asset.
Several of the Premier League‘s elite are reported to hold an interest in bringing the winger back to English football at the end of the season, though the Mirror are reporting that league leaders Liverpool are ‘not involved’ in the race and are not monitoring Sancho’s situation at present.
The report claims that Liverpool’s supposed interest has been ‘a device to drive the price up’, while they would only make a move for Sancho ‘if they were forced to sell one of their fabled front three’.
That stance seemingly leaves the path clear for both Man Utd and Chelsea to chase the 20-year-old as their marquee summing signing, though both clubs are so far said to be unprepared to match Dortmund’s asking price for the youngster which is believed to begin at £100m.
Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have also been credited with an interest in the winger, though the Premier League duo are now set to be in direct competition should Sancho decide on a return to England four years after leaving Manchester City in search of regular first-team football.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the end of the season and transfer window dates amid the coronavirus crisis, Dortmund have insisted their demands will not be altered for a player who has scored 14 goals and provided a further 15 assists in the Bundesliga so far this season.
