A COMPLETE LIST OF 15 CHELSEA PLAYERS PARTICIPATING IN THE 2022 WORLD CUP

It has not been a good start for Chelsea in the Premier League. It is not many points separating Chelsea from Tottenham in fourth place, but Chelsea is ranked eighth in the league. Their performance is not good enough by their standards, and they will be hoping to climb back into the top four in the second half of the season. Approximately 15 members of the Blues squad will be leaving or have left for the Middle East over the six-week break, which will leave manager Graham Potter with a depleted squad when domestic play resumes next month. Mount played in the Euro final at Wembley last year, while his second-half introduction led to the thrilling 3-3 draw with Germany in September.

Kalidou Koulibaly ( Senegal)

The Senegal national team captain is Kalidou Koulibaly, a professional footballer who plays center-back for Premier League club Chelsea. In 2010, Koulibaly began his professional career with Metz, before moving to the Belgian club Genk in 2012. In his first season at Genk, he won the Belgian Cup. As he did at the beginning of the year, Mendy will be accompanied once again by his compatriot, who captained Senegal to victory at the Africa Cup of Nations. Following his summer transfer from Napoli, Koulibaly has had a mixed start to life at Chelsea, but his experience will still be invaluable for the Lions of Teranga in Qatar.

Hakim Ziyech (Morocco)

The Moroccan national team and Premier League club Chelsea both employ Hakim Ziyech as an attacking midfielder or winger. The nickname "The Wizard" was given to him by Ajax supporters. Having come out of international retirement in August following the appointment of Morocco's new manager Walid Regragui, he has resumed his career with the country. Ziyech's three goals in Qatar will place him third on Morocco's all-time top scorer list, only behind Salaheddine Bassir and Ahmed Faras, who scored 36 goals in 94 appearances from 1966 to 1979. Alongside Sofiane Boufal and QPR's Ilias Chair, Ziyech is hoping to assist his country in reaching their best result at a World Cup since 1986, when they reached the last sixteen.

Thiago Silva (Brazil)

Brazilian professional footballer Thiago Emiliano da Silva represents Chelsea in the Premier League and captains the Brazil national football team. Known for his defensive skills, discipline, and leadership, he is considered one of the best defenders in the world and one of the greatest of all time. With his 110th appearance with the Selecao, if he appears in Brazil's opening group game against Serbia on November 24th, Thiago Silva will mark his 14th year with the national team. The 5-time world champion defender will maintain his status as the fourth most capped defender for the country and the fifth highest appearance maker of all time, regardless of how many times he appears for his country during this tournament.

Mateo Kovacic (Croatia)

It is a Croatian professional footballer, Mateo Kovai who plays as a midfielder for the Premier League side Chelsea and the Croatia national team. While he is usually deployed in a central or box-to-box position, he is capable of playing in deeper positions as well. Despite being Chelsea's best player so far, Kovacic has also played a key role in Croatia's recent tournament success. With 154 caps and five appearances for the national team under his belt, the 28-year-old will most likely form part of a midfield three alongside Marcelo Brozovic and Luka Modric.

Christian Pulisic (USA)

A professional soccer player from the United States, Christian Mate Pulisic plays as a midfielder or winger for the Premier League club Chelsea and the United States national team. The nickname "Captain America" was given to him by fans and other players because of his high level of play and nationality. It is fitting to have the 'LeBron James of soccer' descend on Qatar as the poster boy of American football. The United States will debut at the World Cup for the first time since 2014 under Pulisic, who has scored one Premier League goal this season. In the final qualification match for Russia 2018, the Stars and Stripes lost 2-1 to Trinidad and Tobago.

Kai Havertz (Germany)

Kai Lukas Havertz plays as an attacking midfielder or forward for the Premier League club Chelsea and the German national team. He made his senior debut with Bayer Leverkusen in 2016 after graduating from the club's youth academy. Having just won the Champions League final for Chelsea, the Chelsea attacker is now one of Germany's main offensive players as Die Mannschaft seeks to equal its fifth World Cup victory. Cesar Azpilicueta (Spain)

A Spanish professional footballer, César Azpilicueta Tanco plays as a right-back or center-back for Premier League club Chelsea and the Spain national team. Azpilicueta was a youth product of Osasuna and spent three seasons in La Liga before transferring to Marseille, where he won four major honors during his tenure. He is taking part in his third World Cup with Spain, and Qatar 2022 will be his fifth tournament with the national team in nine years. Aside from Germany, Japan, and Costa Rica, Spain is a member of Group E. Despite being in the twilight of his Blues career, the defender will still play an important role when Spain faces teammate Havertz.

Conor Gallagher (England)

Gallagher plays as a midfielder for the Premier League club Chelsea and the England national team. As a Chelsea player, he has spent loan spells at Charlton Athletic, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion, and Crystal Palace. Among the players named to Southgate's squad, the former Crystal Palace loanee is the final Chelsea player. His inclusion was viewed as the biggest surprise. In September, Gallagher was overlooked for England's Nations League matches and instead joined the U21 team. Gallagher earned his first of four senior caps only in November 2021. Although his attitude was regarded as impressive by Southgate, who also praised his pressing skill in the hot conditions in Qatar.

Edouard Mendy (Senegal)

The goalkeeper Édouard Osoque Mendy plays for Premier League club Chelsea and the Senegal national team. It is believed that Denis Lemi Zakaria Lako Lado was born on November 20, 1996. He is a Swiss professional footballer who plays as a central defensive midfielder for Premier League club Chelsea, on loan from Juventus and the Swiss national team. For the second time in his career, Denis Zakaria has been selected to represent Switzerland at the World Cup. Murat Yakin was appointed manager of the national team in August 2021, succeeding Vladimir Petkovic. Qatar 2022 will be his first tournament in charge of the squad. Switzerland qualified for the tournament after Northern Ireland drew 0-0 with Italy, forcing the latter into the playoffs, where they lost to Portugal. During his tenure as captain, Zakaria will be hoping that he will lead Switzerland to one of their best World Cup finishes in 68 years, as the country reached the last eight in 1954.

Baba Rahman (Ghana)

Known as Baba Rahman, Abdul Rahman Baba is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Reading, on loan from Chelsea and the Ghana national team. Asante Kotoko was his first club after starting his career at Dreams FC. Over the last few weeks, Chelsea's loanee has demonstrated his ability as a left defender for Reading. During his time with Ghana, he has made 46 appearances. In 2014, he made his debut for the team, but in 2020, he was forced to leave the squad due to knee injuries.

Romelu Lukaku (Belgium)

As a striker, Romelu Lukaku Bolingoli plays for Serie A club Inter Milan, on loan from Premier League club Chelsea, and for the Belgium national team. Roberto Martinez has taken a risk on the Blues loanee regardless of his inability to stay fit this season since rejoining Inter Milan. It is his honor to be the all-time leading scorer for his country, and he has a good record at major tournaments as well. In order to raise a potential sell-on price, Chelsea may be hoping for a successful tournament.

Ethan Ampadu (Wales)

Ampadu is a professional footballer who plays for Serie A club Spezia, on loan from Premier League club Chelsea, as well as the Wales national team. This season, Ethan Ampadu has been an outstanding performer for Spezia in the Serie A, resulting in continued call-ups for his national team, Wales. He is preparing to play yet another tournament with his side, with whom he has become a regular.

Raheem Sterling (England)

An English professional footballer, Raheem Shaquille Sterling MBE plays as a winger and attacking midfielder for Premier League club Chelsea as well as the England national team. Sterling was born in Jamaica to Jamaican parents and moved to London when he was five years old. After moving from Manchester City during the summer, the winger has struggled for form and was left out of the squad for Saturday's match against Newcastle. He was, however, named in the England squad for the World Cup and has been a key figure under Southgate in the past. Sterling could win his 80th cap for the Three Lions during the opening game against Iran, after he was named England's player of the tournament during their run to the Euro 2020 final last year.
