Second World Cup for France-2018

The FIFA’s edition was played in Russia for
National Football Teams. World Cup Final 2018 took place at
Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. July15, 2018 was the date when the final took place between Croatia and France. The French
finished first in Group C with two wins and a draw. They then defeated Argentina in the round of 16, Uruguay in the quarter-final and Belgium in the semifinal. The Croats finished top of Group D with three victories before beating Denmark in the round of 16 and Russia in the quarter-final - both through penalty shoot-outs - and England in the semi-final. Own goal was made by the France in the minute by Mario Mandžukić  before Croatia making it equal in a span of 10 minutes by Ivan Perisic. Nestor Pitane was the Referee of the final match between France and Croatia. France’s first goal was made by free kick and second goal was made by penalty shootout given by Pitane, the goals were made by Antoine Griezmann. For penalty shootout which made the second goal for the National team, Video Assistant Referee (VAR) was used for the first time in the World Cup tournament in 2018.kylian Mbappe made it 4-2, leading him to be the second teenager after Pele to score in World Cup Final. This was the second world cup for the France after 1998, Antoine was awarded as the Man of the Match whereas Luka Modric was awared as the Goldern Ball as FIFA’s outstanding player of the tournament. After 1966, the final match of 2018 was the highest scoring world cup. The following year, the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament took place, with both France and Croatia reaching the round-of-16 stage before being eliminated by Swiss teams and Spanish teams. There were almost 78,000 supporters in the final to support their respective teams.

France won the match under the leadership and guidance of Hugo Lloris and Didier Deschamps, who was the Cptain of France squad back in 1998 when France won the FIFA World Cup. Didier was the manager of the squad in 2018 World Cup.

The last time France won the World Cup was in 1998, when it beat Brazil in the final.. A losing finalist finish was also theirs in 2006, against Italy.. In their most recent tournament, Euro 2016, hosted in France, the team reached the quarterfinals of the previous World Cup.  The 2018 final was the first for Croatia in their fifth World Cup appearance. Croatia became the tenth county in Europe and thirteenth overall country to reach the world cup final. The World Cup final 2018 was the sixth meet of the two teams, in which France is undefeated with three wins and two draws. Telstar Mechta was the official ball of the Final Match of 2018 that was played between France and Croatia. It was a red colored variant ball of Adidas Telstar 18 ball which was introduced to the knockout stage. Telstar was designed similarly to the 2014’s Brazuca but with longer seams and additional panels. Telstar was originated in 1970.

The final match was played at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, located in the Khamovniki District of the Central Administrative Okrug. The stadium hosted six other matches, including the opening match on 14 June, three group stage matches, a round of 16 match, and the second semi-final match. The expanded version of the stadium was named as the Provisional Final Venue. The venue was confirmed on December, 2012 by the FIFA. The stadium was previously known as the Grand Arena of the Central Lenin Stadium until 1992. It is the National Stadium of the country. It is rated as a category 4 stadium by the UEfA, it was the largest stadium as of 2018 World cup having the capacity of 81,000. Later, it was reduced to 78,000 seating. This stadium is the largest in Eastern European countries and the largest in the Europe. The renovation project cost €341 million and the stadium officially reopened with an international friendly between Russia and Argentina on 11 November 2017.
